Marilyn Wuis believed in the Wings of Song. At the end of her concert career, she collected her songs onto a CD “If My Songs have Wings”, and wrote a poem with the same title. Since her death a year ago, her songs have continued to take wing – in the memory of the pleasure her music gave her listeners, in the music of... those she taught and inspired, and now in the future flights of those who will benefit from the bursaries established in her name.
Many of her students have pursued careers in music and all continue to enjoy the gift of song. To demonstrate their appreciation of Marilyn and her work, and to ensure that her songs continue to have wings, her students and associates have assembled a benefit/tribute concert of vocal music. All proceeds will go to the Marilyn Wuis Bursary Fund, to assist young singers who excel at festivals in Nanaimo and Victoria.
